IWC’s Pilot’s Watch Chrono-Automatic Edition Antoine de Saint Exupery is a lovingly detailed tribute to one of the 20th century’s legendary authors, who also happened to be a pioneer in the early days of aviation. With his philosophical themes, Saint Exupery managed to fuse his love of flight with deeper questions of human existence.

It is to this spirit that IWC has dedicated their Edition Antoine de Saint Exupery Crafted in a limited edition of 1931 pieces to commemorate the publishing year of Saint Exupery’s novel “Vol de Nuit”, there are 1630 pieces available in steel, 250 in 18K rose gold, 50 in 18K white gold and 1 available at auction at the end of 2006 in platinum. Unique to the Edition Saint Exupery is a tobacco-colored dial with stylized luminous indications, and an elegant and subtle “A.” signature at the six o’clock position.

Powered by the automatic-winding 79320 caliber, the IWC Edition de Saint Exupery features both a 12-hour and 30-minute totalizer, as well as day and date indication. Power reserve is 44-hours. As suits a watch dedicated to an adventurous life, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chrono-Automatic Edition de Saint Exupery’s rugged case is water resistant to 60 meters. Like other IWC models intended for aeronautical use, the movement is shielded against magnetism by a soft iron shield which covers the movement; further security is provided by a domed sapphire crystal which is carefully secured to resist the displacement that can occur from drastic changes in air pressure. Visible on the back of the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chrono-Automatic Edition de Saint Exupery is the engraved portrait of the pilot in his flightsuit, which honors the boundary-defying spirit of aviation as well as one of its earliest and most ardent champions.
