In 1945 Girard Perregaux invented the Vintage 1945. Girard Perregaux has been continuously adding to the Vintage 1945. This article covers the Vintage 1945 King Size Power Reserve is a wonderful watch with a truly retro feel. The case on the Vintage 1945 is perfectly symmetrical measuring 32 x 32 mm. While technically a mid sized watch this Vintage 1945 Power Reserve has the feel of a much larger timepiece
GP’s Vintage 1945 Power Reserve is similar to the Vintage 1945 Small Seconds. The main difference of course is the addition of the power reserve indicator in the lower right corner of the dial. This half moon shaped power reserve indicator has the look of a traditional fuel gauge on a fine European car. The first is an all steel version with a black dial and only three numerical hour markers at twelve, three and six o’clock. The designers have done a great job with the dial design, providing functionality that is easy to use, while not cluttering up the dial.
There is a sub second’s window set at nine o’clock that is subtly merged into the rectangular decorative shape in the middle of the dial. The date window is tucked in between the one a two o’clock markers at a forty five degree angle. Girard Perregaux offers a stainless steel and a yellow gold version of this watch. The stainless steel version comes with either a gray dial Ref. # 25850-53-261-BAED or and all white dial with guilloche Ref. # 25850-53-261-BCGD. The yellow gold version Ref. # 25850-51-111-BAED is truly elegant timepiece with gold markers and hands. For the gold version GP’s designers offset the power reserve indicator at an angle to give it a unique look. Girard Perregaux powers the Vintage 1945 Power Reserve watch with the GP 033R0 automatic movement. This movement is water resistant to 30 meters and has a power reserve of 46 hours.
