Chopard – A Luxury Brand in a Category of It’s Own
When you think of a fine watch brand and a fine jewelry brand, very rarely (almost never) are they the same. Simply put, Chopard and the Scheufele family has been able to do what no other luxury brand has…….. and that is be a true watch Manufacturer and true jewelry brand. It’s true that many watch brands make both watches and jewelry and do it very well, examples of such would be Cartier, Harry Winston, Bulgari, Piaget to name only a few. But do they do both and do they do it at the same level as Chopard?
Under the watchful eye of company president, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the LUC (Louis Ulysse Chopard) Collection of Chopard Watches was created over 10 years ago and is housed today in a beautiful new factory in Fleurier Switzerland. With the LUC, Chopard has become a true timepiece Manufacturer in the way Jaeger LeCoultre, Girard Perregaux, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe have long been. This puts Chopard in a league of a select few. Some of the spectacular new pieces being debuted this year are the Strike One Petite Sonnerie and the Chrono One, both part of the LUC Collection and made entirely in house by Manufacturer Chopard. The Strike One is at the top of my list of pieces to add to my collection this year.
Chopard has long been the benchmark for elegant ladies’ diamond watches and beautiful jewelry, adorning celebrities and royalty the world over. Constantly seen on the red carpet at the Academy Awards and at the Cannes Film Festival, Chopard Haute Joaillerie finishes a beautiful dress like no other. Award winners such as Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Penelope Cruz, and Hilary Swank, and Rachel Weiss have all adorned Chopard on thier biggest nights.
This year Chopard has created a very special timepiece, a “Piece Unique” beautifully decorated with over 60 carats of diamonds, all individually selected by Karin Scheufele herself. Is it a timepiece, a beautiful piece of jewelry or work of art? Most certainly all 3. Another example of why Chopard is in a category all its own.
